Frequently Asked Questions

Needless to say this is not your average, everyday, internet website, nor is it a typical gig for our models. So i thought i would address some frequently asked questions:

What exactly is this website all about?

This website is for fans of horror movies,TV crime shows like CSI and Law and Order, murder mystery parties, and (giving away my age here) fans of old detective magazines.

What got you interested in this type of photography?

I go back to the old detective magazines that were very popular in my youth. The magazines themselves were somewhat dull, but the cover photos were always very well done. They were usually photos similar to what you see here on my site-Simulated crimes featuring attractive female victims. These cover photos were popular for many years and were so well done that they are actually considered their own genre of photography. In my own way i'm attempting to pay homage to those talented photographers.

I'm also a big fan of Alfred Hitchcock, and try whenever i can to recreate scenes from his films.

Why do you solicit selling photos and arranging custom photosets?

While the lovely and talented ladies who pose for me all rave about how much fun they have doing these sets, they still insist on being paid. Selling photos and arranging custom sets allows me to hire models to work for me.Also the process of shooting a custom photoset is a great experience. It's always a challenge to see how closely i can follow the "script" i'm given, and the models enjoy it because it's more like acting than posing. Most of these women are frustrated actresses, while i'm a frustrated director, so this is the closest most of us will ever get  to making a movie.

It's also very rewarding to hear from the person who ordered the custom set after they have had a chance to view their photos and hear that you did a god job.

Who buys these photos and orders custom sets?

My internet groups have a combined membership of approximately three thousand people (probably more). Many of the members are creative people (writers, video directors, webmasters) who need photos to illustrate their stories. Others are simply people like me who are fans of these type of photos.

Why no nudity or blood?

It's much easier to hire models when the job requires no nudity. In addition to that i'm a happily married man and as such would feel uncomfortable in the presence of a naked (or even topless) woman other than my wife. Besides that she probably would kill me if i took topless (and especially full nude) photos of beautiful women.

As for blood there are three reasons: One is that it's hard to duplicate bullet and stab wounds without looking fake or cheesy. It also creates quite a mess, which both complicates and slows down the shoots. Also it takes the mystery out of the victims cause of death. A little mystery adds a nice touch to the photos.

Where do you find the models who pose for you?

Most of the women who pose for my website find me through my internet ads, though many of them are referred to me by other photographers i know or models who have already posed for the site.

I have been fortunate to have over one hundred women contribute work to my website and internet groups. These ladies come from different parts of the country (as well as some from Europe), have different backgrounds and various levels of experience. Some of them are full time professional models, while others have had no previous modeling experience at all prior to posing for me. Many of them have regular full time jobs, some are stay at home moms, and others are college students. The ages of the women in Bill's Playhouse range from eighteen to forty nine.

While i'm clearing the air here i should also tell you that i am not a professional photographer. These photosets and this website are something i do on the side in my spare time as a hobby.  Please try to keep that in mind when you contact me (especially if you're being critical). Thanks for your support.

Not surprisingly, i get alot of questions about this website, many of which are perfectly reasonable. I'll attempt to answer those questions for you as best i can.
